Shell Mask Pendant 1

******************************

These pendants (1,2,3)  are based on miniature shell masks from the Anker Site in Illinois (900-1200A.D.). They apparently represent deities of the worlds center and quarters. All have "forked eye" markings. The forked-eye design is traditional in the Mississippian cultures art. some of their imagery suggests Mesoamerican influences of the Toltec-Aztec Culture. They are made of polymer clay on a 23 inch adjustable cord. They are approximately 1 1/2" high.
